Your Personal Tutor Is Always Open: How to Use the AI Chat Assistant
Stuck on a question? Reviewing your results? The AI Assistant is always one tap away — here's how to get the most out of it, including how to save and export your conversations.
What Is the AI Assistant?
While you're taking a quiz, reading a document, or reviewing your results on QuizGenius, there's a floating chat button at the bottom-right of the screen. Tap it and a drawer slides open — that's your AI Assistant.
Think of it as a study partner who has already read everything you're working on. It knows which question you're stuck on, what document you're reading, and how you performed on your last quiz. You don't have to copy-paste anything.
Context-Aware: The assistant automatically understands your current context — whether you're in a quiz, reviewing results, or browsing a document. Just ask your question naturally.
How to Open the Assistant
- Open any quiz, document hub, or results page inside the app.
- Look for the Sparkles icon (✨) floating at the bottom-right corner.
- Tap it — the Assistant drawer slides open from the right side.
- Type your question and hit Send (or press Enter on desktop).
That's it. No setup, no switching apps.
What You Can Ask
The assistant is contextual, meaning it adapts based on where you are:
While Taking a Quiz
- "Explain why option B is wrong."
- "Give me a simpler way to understand this concept."
- "What is the relationship between [Term A] and [Term B]?"
While Reviewing Results
- "Which topics did I struggle with the most?"
- "Give me a quick revision of the concepts I got wrong."
- "Create 5 more practice questions on the topics I failed."
While Reading a Document
- "Summarize what I just read in 3 bullet points."
- "What are the key takeaways from this section?"
- "Explain this paragraph in simpler English."
Choosing a Chat Mode
In the top of the assistant panel, you'll see a Mode selector. Different modes change how the assistant responds:
- Helpful — Balanced, direct answers. Best for general questions.
- Explanatory — Longer, more detailed breakdowns. Great when you're confused.
- Concise — Short, to-the-point answers. Perfect when you're in a hurry.
Switch modes at any time mid-conversation.
Saving a Conversation as a Note
Had a great explanation from the assistant that you want to keep? You can save it directly to your notes:
- After the assistant replies, look for the "Save as Outline" option (the sticky-note icon or via the action menu).
- The conversation is converted into a formatted note and saved to your Saved Outlines.
- You can access it any time from the sidebar or from the Documents → Notes section.
Study Trick: Use the assistant to generate a "mini-study guide" for each topic you're confused about, then save it as an outline. By the end of a study session, you'll have a personalized revision set.
Exporting Your Chat
You can export any assistant conversation in three formats:
- Click the Download icon in the assistant drawer header.
- Choose your format:
- PDF — Great for printing or sharing with classmates.
- DOCX — Opens in Microsoft Word or Google Docs for further editing.
- Markdown (.md) — For developers or users of Notion, Obsidian, etc.
The export includes the full conversation formatted cleanly with headings and proper structure.
Viewing Chat History
Your past conversations are saved automatically. To access them:
- Open the assistant drawer.
- Click the History icon (clock icon) at the top of the panel.
- Browse all past sessions, grouped by date.
- Click any session to resume it.
Chat history is stored locally on your device and linked to your account. Clearing browser data may remove local history.
Pro Tips
- Ask follow-up questions. The assistant remembers what you asked earlier in the same session.
- Use it after a quiz. Ask it to explain every answer you got wrong — this is one of the most effective review strategies.
- Navigate from the chat. If the assistant mentions "Learn Mode" or another feature, it can drop a link for you to navigate directly.
Ready to try it? Open any quiz or document and tap the sparkle button. Your AI tutor is already waiting.
