How to Copy, Save, and Export Your Study Notes (PDF, Word, Markdown)

Generated a great set of notes or outlines in QuizGenius? Here's how to copy them to your clipboard, save them to your account, and export them as PDF, Word, or Markdown files you can use anywhere.

Why Export Matters

QuizGenius generates study-ready notes, outlines, and AI chat responses — but your workflow doesn't stop inside the app. Maybe you need to:

  • Print notes before an exam
  • Drop a summary into a group chat
  • Edit an outline further in Google Docs or Microsoft Word
  • Archive your study materials in Notion or Obsidian

That's why every piece of generated content can be copied, saved, or exported in multiple formats. Here's how each one works.

Copying Content to Clipboard

The fastest way to move content out of the app is the Copy button. It appears on:

  • Generated outlines in the Notes tab of the Document Hub
  • AI Assistant responses in the drawer
  • Quiz results summaries

Just click Copy and the full content is on your clipboard — ready to paste anywhere.

Saving Notes to Your Account

If you generate an outline or receive a great AI explanation, you can save it to your account for later access:

From the Notes Tab (Document Hub)

  1. Open a saved document and go to the Notes tab.
  2. Set your preferred detail level (Brief, Medium, or Detailed).
  3. Click "Generate Outline".
  4. Once generated, click "Save Outline".
  5. Give it a name (e.g. "Biochemistry Chapter 3 — Summary") and confirm.

Your outline is now saved under Saved Outlines in your sidebar.

From the AI Assistant

  1. Open the assistant drawer and have a conversation.
  2. Click the "Save as Outline" action button after a response.
  3. The conversation is formatted and saved as a note automatically.

Exporting as PDF

PDF is perfect for printing, sharing as a file, or reading offline.

From Saved Outlines

  1. Go to Saved Outlines and open any outline.
  2. Click the Export button (download icon) in the top-right corner.
  3. Select PDF from the dropdown.
  4. The file downloads immediately — properly formatted with headings, bullet points, and styled text.

From the AI Assistant

  1. Open the Assistant drawer.
  2. After generating a response, click the Download icon in the drawer header.
  3. Select PDF.

Exporting as Word (DOCX)

DOCX format opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, and most other word processors.

  1. Follow the same steps as PDF export above.
  2. When the format menu appears, select Word (.docx) instead.
  3. The downloaded file will open in Word with full formatting — headings, bold text, and lists all preserved.

This is ideal if you want to:

  • Edit and personalize the notes further
  • Add your own annotations before printing
  • Share with a study group who needs an editable file

Exporting as Markdown (.md)

Markdown is a plain-text format that preserves structure (headings, bold, bullets) and works with tools like Notion, Obsidian, Typora, Bear, GitHub, and many more.

  1. Follow the same export steps.
  2. Select Markdown (.md) from the format options.
  3. The raw .md file downloads — paste it directly into Obsidian or import into Notion.

A Complete Export Workflow Example

Here's a real study scenario from start to finish:

  1. Upload your lecture notes PDF to Documents.
  2. Go to the Notes tab → Generate a Detailed outline.
  3. Save the outline with a descriptive name.
  4. Open the AI Assistant and ask: "What are the 5 most testable concepts in this outline?"
  5. Save the assistant's response as another outline.
  6. Before your exam, go to Saved Outlines and Export both as PDF.
  7. Print them. Done.

You've just turned a 40-page lecture PDF into two focused, printable revision sheets — in under 10 minutes.

Where to Find All Saved Notes

All your saved outlines are accessible in two places:

  • Sidebar (left navigation): Click "Outlines" or the notepad icon.
  • Documents page: Click on any document, go to the Notes tab, and scroll down to "Saved Outlines" to see notes linked to that specific document.

Notes are stored on your account and sync across devices — so what you generate on your phone is available on your laptop and vice versa.

Your study materials shouldn't be trapped inside one app. Export them, print them, share them — they're yours.
